Welcome to the new year. I sincerely hope all of our readers are enjoying a nice holiday break.
This post is a day late and a dollar short (<<--a common expression meaning "a little too late"), but it may be useful if you're sending a few late New Year greeting cards or e-mail messages.
So, for your convenience, here a few different phrases for wishing someone a good year:
The most standard phrase is:
Happy New Year!
A slight variation is:
Best wishes for the New Year!
If you want to include other people:
Best wishes to you and your family for the New Year!
(Note that you could change "family" to "you and your husband," "you and your wife," or even -- for a single person -- "you and your dog"!)
Using the actual calendar year, you could say:
Hope you enjoy a great 2011!
And, finally, one which is a little more specific about what will be good in the coming year:
Hope you enjoy a happy, healthy and generally great 2011!

Wow . . . you do sound very busy.
I hope you have finally recovered from your cold -- you need energy for the last five days before your examination.
Insurance tests are hard and detailed. I took part of the CPCU (Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter) examination when I worked as an insurance underwriter, and I remember how time-consuming the studying was.
For motivation, remember this: If this is a one-time test, when you pass the test, you never have to take it again. Then you can relax.
We'll talk about music some other time. For now, good luck with your exam and let Sunny and me know how you did!

The automobile and accident insurance were good grade.
But fine insurance is not pass line.The score on the exam is 10 points below passing!

Thanks for the update on your test. It's too bad that the fire part was difficult, but it's great to know that you passed the automobile and accident insurance parts.
Anyway, now you have only one more part to take, and you still have three or four months to study, so you can relax . . . a little.
What are you going to do in your free time between now and the next test? Practice the piano? Study English?
